The Sixth Kondratieff and Smart Cities
In reviewing some of the past contributions of Peter Hall in terms of the relationship between technology waves and urban spaces, Michael Batty speculates on the role of the smart city in the imminent next technological wave (Sixth Kondratieff). He argue towards a more proactive role of urban spaces in this wave, being also a driver for the Kondratieff alongside biotechnology, nanotechnology, big data and expanding internet capabilities/usage. Indeed, an interesting open to discussion thesis.
